New South WalesPat Farmer is an Australian ultramarathon runner who is known for his long charity runs. From 2001 to 2010 he served as a member of the Australian Parliament in the House of Representatives.
Pat claimed the Guinness World Record for the fastest crossing of the Simpson Desert in 1998. The run started at Alka Seltzer Bore (SA) and followed the French Line (217 km / 134 miles) to Poepple Corner, then the QAA Line (162 km / 100.5 miles) to the finish in Birdsville (Qld).
