VictoriaJudith Pollock is a retired Australian runner who represented strongly in the first ever women's 400m Olympic Games event in Tokyo where she claimed the bronze medal. Two years later she won the 440 Yards event at the British Empire & Commonwealth Games in Kingston, Jamaica.
Pollock set World Records for 440 Yards, 800 Metres & 880 Yards before retiring in 1968 to start her family. Returning to competition in 1971 she was selected as athletic team captain for the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, however she was unable to start in her events due to injuries & soon after retired again. In a second comeback in 1976 as a Veteran competing in the longer 800m & 1500m events she gained selection for the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games where, despite running her fastest ever 1500m time, she was unable to progress beyond the heats.
Pollock was inducted into the Sports Australia Hall of Fame in 1988.
